Stuart Marcus
is a native Floridian, born in 1951 in Miami, Florida. He attended Miami
Sr. High School and the University of South Florida. Stuart came to
the Tampa Bay area in 1969 to attend USF. He is married and has three
adult children. He currently resides in Lutz, Florida.
Stuart spent 18 years with the Tampa Fire Department. He retired 10
years ago when he broke a vertebrae in his back while fighting a multi-alarm
fire at Hookers Point.
Over the years, he has designed and constructed custom furniture for
area decorators, founded two companies, Sound Connections International,
Incorporated and Sonic Images, Incorporated, both of which he is still
President.
His involvement in the local arts scene dates back to the original Alice
Peoples Theater Company, where he served as company manager until
grants could be secured to hire a full time manager.
Both Stuart and his wife Jeanette, who accompanies him on most of his
photographic adventures and acts as his assistant, are staunch supporters
of wildlife and environmental conservation.
Stuarts photographs have been sold to private collectors here
in the states and abroad. He has traveled to all seven continents in
pursuit of wildlife.
The guiding principle of his work is to capture the natural behavior
of wildlife with as little impact on the animals and their environment
as possible.
All photographs are printed by Stuart himself in order to insure the
quaility of each print.
